SoundHouse is a musician-run venue in The Hague. We are creating a space where audiences can engage with the practice of independent artists working outside traditional institutions. Think of: concerts, research seminars, workshops, open residencies, presentations, and more.
Our vision is to provide a well-equipped home for diversity, experimentation and performance — a community space for both artists and audiences.
We are artists building this together, with no top-down leadership, only shared dreams and responsibilities. Our legal non-profit association is brand new, but our collective spirit has been years in the making.
We are the New Music Initiative, an Association (Vereniging) of music professionals based in the Energiekwartier of The Hague. NMI was founded to make SoundHouse possible: an exciting new venue for today’s music, located on the ground floor of the DCR Broedplaats in the vibrant Energiekwartier at De Constant Rebecqueplein.
SoundHouse presents work that is a crossroads between genres, promoting artists transcending disciplines. Many of these individuals do not “fit the mold” to be presented in other spaces; SoundHouse allows them unrestricted creativity. Accessibility and a welcoming environment for people of all backgrounds is our top priority.
